Repertoire

Preliminary Round:
  • For recorded auditions, you must include a minimum of one work of Chopin.If submitting an audition recording, it is recommended that it be 10 - 20 minutes long (no hard length limitations will be applied, but the Screening Jury will choose a maximum of 30 minutes to listen to).
  • ​For those participating in "Chopin in Cyprus", winning a prize in the Chopin in Cyprus Concerto Competition entails performing a complete Chopin Concerto with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra in the Cyprus Competition finals. The winner(s) gain(s) automatic admission to the 2025 Nashville International Chopin Piano Competition.
  • For those participating in live auditions, the requirements per category are:
    • Young Musician I : Frédéric Chopin, minimum one work, 10 minute limit
    • Young Musician II: Frédéric Chopin, minimum one work, 20 minute limit
    • Artist: Frédéric Chopin, live auditions must include a virtuosic etude (excluding op. 10, #3,6,9,11 and op. 25, #1,5,7), 30 minute limit
  • Live auditions are scheduled as follows:​

    • Tbilisi, Georgia: June 16th - 17th, 2025 (see application instructions, do not apply on Acceptd)

    • Shenyang, China:  June 20th - 22nd, 2025

    • Prague, Czech Republic: July 26th - 27th, 2025

    • Bangkok, Thailand:  August 14th - 15th, 2025

Live Round(s):

  • Young Musician I (ages 5 - 10):

    • Single live round, 12 minutes ​(recommended and maximum)

    • 2 contrasting works

    • At least one work by Chopin

  • Young Musician II (ages 11 - 15):

    • Single live round, 20 minutes​ (recommended and maximum)

    • All-Chopin program*

    • Must include a Nocturne

  • Artist (ages 16 - 33):

    • Two live rounds

    • ​Semi-finals:

      • 50 minute recital (recommended and maximum)

      • All-Chopin program*

      • Two Etudes

        • Excluding op. 10, #3,6,9,11 and op. 25, #1,5,7 

      • One Nocturne​

      • One large form (sonata, polonaise, etc.)

      • Additional work(s) of choice

    • Finals:​

      • One Chopin concerto

        • Concerto in E minor, Op. 11​

        • Concerto in F minor, Op. 21

* Young Musician II (ages 11 - 15) and Artist (ages 16-33) categories may also opt to learn and perform the optional specially commissioned work for the 2025 Nashville International Chopin Piano Competition, whose performance will form the basis for awarding the $2,000 Audience Choice Award. The score will be sent to competitors once they are admitted to the live competition so they can decide if they wish to learn and perform it. It does NOT count towards the allotted time of the performance so you do not have to shorten your existing program.

Note: All Repertoire performed in the Screening Round must also be performed in the live Competition except for the (possible) non-Chopin audition work allowed for the 6 - 10 age category.
