Rules
Application
Applications are made online beginning by Nov. 8 2024 at NASHVILLECHOPIN.GETACCEPTD.COM. Supporting materials must be provided electronically. There is a $95 application review fee.
Dates and location
Chopin in Cyprus will take from June 9 - 14, 2025 in and around Nicosia, Cyprus. Hotel and accommodation information coming soon.
Cost
Chopin in Cyprus program participation costs $1800. Passive participation plus one lesson is available for $500.
Age requirements
Chopin in Cyprus participants must be between the ages of 10 and 33 as of June 9, 2025. Junior Program is between 10 and 18 years of age, Senior Program is between 19 and 33 years of age.
Accompanying adults
All participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Accompanying adults must apply as General Observers to receive discount codes for participating hotels and accommodations.
Repertoire
All repertoire is Chopin-only. Performers in the Junior Program must submit at least one or two works of Chopin up to a total of 10 minutes in length. Performers in the Senior Program must submit two or more works up to a total of 20 minutes in length. The concerto selected for the competition for performers opting in to participate may be either Chopin Piano Concerto No. 1 in e minor, op. 11, or Chopin Piano Concerto No. 2 in f minor, op 21.
Private lessons
All performers receive five 60-minute private lessons with guest artists.
Masterclasses
All performers will be selected to play at least one work in a public masterclass with one of the guest artists.
Concerts
All performers will participate in at least one nightly public performance at venues arranged by Chopin in Cyprus.
Orchestral readings
Each performer will read at least one movement of one of the Chopin concerti with CYSO (Cyprus Symphony Orchestra) in public under the baton and tutelage of Maestro Charles Olivieri-Munroe.
Competition
Performers in both the Junior and Senior Programs can opt-in to participate in the Concerto Competition and will have the opportunity to perform with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra.
Chopin in Cyprus is an international program managed by the Nashville International Chopin Piano Competition that features young virtuosi in public and private lessons, masterclasses, performances, orchestral readings, and a competition with a major professional orchestra. The municipality of Nicosia, Cyprus will be the location for most events including the Concerto Competition and Winners Concert, as well as the star guest performer appearance.
