Yiyan Liu began piano studies at the age of four and is currently studying at the Phil and Eli Taylor Academy of the Royal Conservatory, under Dr. Michael Berkovsky.
A committed young performer, Yiyan has distinguished himself at festivals across Ontario. He received an Honourable Mention in the Junior Group of the Sixth Canadian Chopin Competition and won the Audience Favourite Award as well. He is also a scholarship recipient of the Ontario Music Festivals Association (OMFA). Notably, he is among the youngest musicians to complete the ARCT with honours, achieving this at age 11.
Beyond piano, Yiyan plays the flute, trombone, and cello, and maintains an active lifestyle through various sports and daily arguments with his younger brother.
