He entered the Xiamen Music School and later the Shanghai Conservatory of Music as the top student in his major under the tutelage of Mr. Zhou Ting, Vice Principal. Within one year of enrollment, he won the school’s concerto competition.
He was admitted to the Juilliard School of Music with a high scholarship, studying under renowned pianist Prof. Chen Hung-Kuan. He later attended the New England Conservatory of Music, where he received his Master’s Degree under pianist, educator, and Chopin International Piano Competition winner Dang Thai Son.
Boyuan won Second Prize at the 10th Moscow International Chopin Piano Competition, along with the only special prize awarded by the Polish Embassy—the highest honor ever received by a Chinese pianist in this competition.
He has given numerous recitals and has performed Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1, Beethoven’s Piano Concertos No. 3 and No. 5, and Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra.
Boyuan has appeared in some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls, including the Tchaikovsky Conservatory Hall in Moscow, Jordan Hall and Alice Tully Hall in the United States, Kirishima Concert Hall in Japan, the National Centre for the Performing Arts in China, the Shanghai Oriental Art Center, Xiamen Hongtai Concert Hall, and many others.
