Born and raised in Nanjing, China, Pei-Heng began his musical journey at age seven, and his talent was quickly recognized.
During his amateur studies, he won numerous competitions, including First Prize at the MTA 51st Annual Competition in Massachusetts (2019); First Prize at the WARSAW International Piano Competition in China (2020); First Prize at the Steinway & Sons National Piano Competition, China Final (2021); First Prize at the Macau International Piano Competition, China (2022); and First Prize at the Vancouver International Piano Competition, China (2022).
Starting in December 2023, he began formal piano studies at the Institute of Music Elites (IME) Nanjing with Dr. Mutian Cui.
In 2025, in his first applications to professional piano competitions, he was admitted to the prestigious Aarhus International Piano Competition, becoming the only Chinese contestant without prior training in China’s professional education system.
In April 2025, he won his first professional competition (AAF)—the MK International Piano Competition in Seoul, Korea—earning Third Prize as the youngest participant.
In November 2025, he was admitted to the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition for Young Pianists, where he was the youngest competitor in the 15–18 age group, as well as the 2026 International Chopin Competition in Asia (Tokyo, Japan), in a category with no age limit.
Since 2024, he has attended masterclasses with Wei-Yi Yang, Ewa Kupiec, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Michail Lifits, Colin Stone, and Rustem Hayroudinoff.
