Wilson Liu, 11, from California, was admitted to the Juilliard School Pre-College Division at age 7, where he won the Bachauer Prize with full scholarship and the Concerto Competition. He currently studies with Hung-Kuan Chen and Tema Blackstone.
He was nominated into the Artemisia Foundation, where he performed and worked with distinguished pedagogues including Jerome Lowenthal, Veda Kaplinsky, Misha Voskressenski, and others, and collaborated with opera star Leah Hawkins.
At age 9, Wilson appeared in PBS’s Great Performances: Now Hear This.
As a representative of the youngest generation, Wilson was invited to perform at Juilliard’s largest celebration event—a scholarship benefit—where he received high acclaim.
Wilson is a 2025–26 From the Top fellow; his music and interview will be featured on NPR broadcasts, podcasts, and social media platforms.
Since his earliest training, Wilson has won numerous piano and concerto competitions, including Kaufman Music Center International Youth, the XIV Chopin Piano Competition in Hartford, and the Chicago International Competition, among others. As the youngest contestant, he won the 2025 International Young Artists Concerto Competition and performed at Symphony Center Chicago with Seen Worldwide, NPO.
Most recently, he won the 2025 Young Artist Concerto Competition and will perform with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra USA.
Wilson thoroughly enjoys the growth and fun he experiences as he prepares for performances, and he always looks forward to learning from his fellow pianists.
